4K IPTV streams live channels and on-demand content at up to four times the resolution of Full HD. Here is what that really means, which content is genuinely 4K, and what you need at home to enjoy it.
Your subscription carries live TV and an on-demand library. Wherever a channel or title is available in 4K, you get it in 4K. Everything else plays in the best quality the source offers, usually Full HD or HD.

Native vs upscaled
No. A stream can only contain 4K detail if it was produced in 4K. When a Full HD channel is simply converted to a 4K resolution, the file gets bigger but the picture gains no detail. That is why we never claim that every channel is 4K.
Big fixtures are among the most common live 4K productions, and fast motion is where the extra resolution is easiest to see.
Many recent films are finished in 4K, so on-demand titles are often the most reliable way to watch true Ultra HD.
Landscape and wildlife programmes are frequently shot in 4K and show off texture, colour and fine detail.
Most live channels are still produced in Full HD or HD. That is a broadcasting reality, not a limitation of IPTV. A good Full HD stream on a well set-up TV still looks excellent, and your TV upscales it to fill a 4K screen.
Requirements
4K is a chain: every link has to support it. If one part only handles Full HD, the whole picture drops to Full HD.

The benefit of 4K depends on screen size and how far away you sit. On a 55-inch or larger TV at a normal living-room distance, the extra detail is clear, especially in sport and nature content. On a 32-inch TV, a laptop or a phone, most people cannot tell 4K from a good Full HD stream.
Your connection matters too. If your household regularly runs several streams, video calls and downloads at the same time, a steady Full HD picture is often a better experience than a 4K stream that keeps dropping quality.

FAQ
Most IPTV players show stream information — look for a resolution of 3840×2160 or “2160p”. Many TVs also show the incoming signal resolution when you press the Info or Display button on the remote.
The usual causes are a player or TV set to a lower output resolution, an HDMI port or cable that is not 4K-capable, a device that does not support the video codec, or a connection that forces the stream to a lower quality. Our guide to improving IPTV streaming quality covers each fix.
Yes. Depending on the bitrate, a 4K stream can use roughly 7–12 GB per hour, several times more than Full HD. That is rarely an issue on unlimited home broadband, but worth knowing on capped or mobile connections.
You can play the streams, but phone screens have fewer pixels than a 4K image, so you will not see the full detail. For real 4K, watch on a 4K TV with a 4K-capable player such as a Fire TV Stick 4K, a Google TV device or an Apple TV 4K.
